Growing up, what did you dream of doing or becoming as an adult? What do you dream of doing now?
The first job I really remember wanting to do was a nurse. I’m not sure if it’s because people told me that they thought I would make a good one, or because I actually wanted to be one. *shrug* Then it progressed to wanting to be a vegan baker. That was when I started to want to do something that meant something to me; something that I felt proud supporting. Well, I realized that it wasn’t for me for multiple reasons. I don’t think I can pinpoint the actual first moment that I decided that I want to be an English teacher. I guess I tried to think about what else I felt like I enjoyed/felt strongly for. And, of course, all the stuff that I’ve written about (my amazing teachers and being invited to take AP lit
) kind of solidified my decision
.
So it goes. (Kudos if you get the allusion).
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

Being a vegan baker sounds like fun! No reason you can’t ensure that you’re doing plenty of that while you’re teaching, right?
When I was young…from like age 11 until about 16 or 17, I wanted to be a musician. Not just play music but have it played on the radio.
Then for a while I wanted to be a vet tech or something. Just wanted to work with animals and help them.
After that my dream was to be a photographer!
Well…I am a caregiver…go figure! But I do write songs and have recorded a few. I work with animal rescue as a volunteer. And I do photography as a hobby. So I guess I do all three things that I wanted to do. But on the side. Jack of all trades, master of none! lol
@arenfro - Definitely! PLUS, my classes will bring in baked goods on Fridays. We did that in Spanish my freshman year. It was AWESOME
.
@BrEnHoLtZ - Well, it looks like you got what you wanted. Who cares if you’re a jack of all trades? If you have diverse interests and can’t decide it seems to me that’s the way to go
